"The 'Evening Hymn' concert was the most beautiful I'd ever attended.
I was so glad I came, thank you so much for making the afternoon so special."

Other Concerts and Events

In addition to presenting our own concerts, Bel a cappella also performs at a number of other events.

Past performances have included:

The 10th annual European Gala Christmas Concert presented by Sylvia Virag at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney, 3 December, 2011.

Christmas Carols at Concord Baptist Church, 18 December, 2011.

Blackheath Choir Festival,  August 2009, 2010 and 2011

The Blackheath Choir Festival is a non-competitive event held during the last weekend of August each year. It attracts many different types and styles of choirs from Sydney, regional NSW and beyond.  Our performance this year consisted of works by Eric Whitacre, Rachmaninov, Vaughan Williams, David Briggs, Elliot Levine and Billy Joel, and was very well received by an enthusiastic audience.

Visit www.blackheathchoirfestival.weebly.com or phone 0437 255 816 for program and ticket information.

Choralfest 2010, Port Macquarie

Bel a cappella was extremely proud to have been one of the few choirs selected to perform at the 2010 Choralfest, the national conference for choral conductors, choral musicians and choirs hosted by Australian National Choral Association, (ANCA).

Choralfest consisted of both a conference and a non-competitive choral festival.  Bel a cappella performed at the new Performing Arts Centre in the Glasshouse in concerts on the Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, as well as participated in an open rehearsal with one of the international conductors: Jing Ling-Tam (USA), Jens Johansen (Denmark) and Bruce Rogers (USA).

Hymn Fest, St Stephen's Church, Macquarie Street, Sydney, September 2010 and 2011

Bel a cappella has participated in this festival of hymns and other religious music with the St Stephen's Choir, which is also conducted by our Musical Director Anthony Pasquill.  This year we performed Parry's 'I Was Glad' as well as other works celebrating royal marriages, with organist Mark Quarmby and the Five Cities Brass Quintet.

Choral Evensong at St James Church King Street

In July 2011 Bel a cappella was invited to sing at two Choral Evensongs on Wednesday evenings at St James.  These performances gave Bel members an opportunity to sing works as part of a religious service, including settings of the Nunc Dimitis and Magnificat by Stanford.
